Add In-Line Movie

In-line movies will only play when the page is viewed in the Internet Explorer browser.

  1. To add an inline movie to a Web page:

    1. Click on the View menu and select View as Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The Microsoft Internet Explorer preview window is displayed.

    2. Click on In-Line Movie on the Insert menu.
      The Open box is displayed.

    3. Select the *.avi file from your hard drive or network.
A message is displayed asking if you want to select an alternate image to use in place of the in-line movie for those browsers that do not support movies.

    4. Click on an image from your hard drive or network.
The Movie Properties box is displayed.

      1. Movie filename
Type the file name (and path if the file is not in the same directory as the Web page) of the movie file you want to insert in the Web page. Or, click the Browse button to select a movie file. Movies must be in the Video for Windows *.avi format. You can also specify an image or text to be displayed in place of the movie by browsers that do not support movies.
      2. Number of times to play
Choose the number of times you want the movie to play when the user visits this page: once, a number of times specified by you, or infinitely (as long as the user is viewing the page).
      3. Start Movie
Choose whether you want the movie to start playing when the file has finished downloading to the user's Web browser, or whenever the user's mouse passes over the movie.
      4. Alignment with Text
Click the button that best represents how text next to the movie should be aligned with adjacent text.
      5. Movie Size
To change the height and width of the movie as it displays in the browser, type the new dimensions here. Units are in pixels.
      6. Space Around Movie
To add space around the movie, type the number of pixels of blank space you want added to the left and right of the movie, as well as the number of pixels of space above and below the movie.
      7. Show Movie Control Buttons
Select this check box if you want the user to see VCR-type control buttons for the movie: play, fast forward, rewind, stop.

    5. Click OK.
The movie is applied to the Web page.

  2. To edit an in-line movie:
